We turtles have a "plastron" and a "carapace". Definitions: Plastron: Bottom part of a turtle Carapace: Top part of a turtle By looking at our plastron, you can identify us turtles gender. Ok, I do not own any of these pictures.
One of the easy ways to tell is the claws, if you look at the front claws of the turtle and then the back claws, you usually see a difference. It is hard to tell on the babies like me because we have them the same length. If your turtle is a male, their front claws will be 4x longer then their back legs, the females have the same length and sometimes a TEENY bit longer.
